| National Meeting 2010 |

Council Presidents & Board Members, The National Meeting went very well and progress is being made on the financial front and some ideas and concepts to increase our membership. Looking forward to the CSOP updated power point. I think that it will help with the presentation to those "like" organizations. Also talk to your councils and suggest they begin to cultivate Community Affiliates. A great source of revenue for the council, a good way to advertise the Navy League and a good way to bring new customers to know their communities businesses. Don't forget our original grass roots program - Legislative Affairs. Meeting with the congressmen and women is still one of our main goals. The Maritime Policy is in print and it can be incorporated in any of the talks you have on the elevators, on the airplane or even in your contact with friends and family. As of 30 May the membership is 51,573 with 415 Community Affiliates, 65 Business Associate Members and 149 Corporate Members. There seems to be many new members added to the roster, but the retention is not the greatest. That Guide to Retention could be something all members should be looking at. The National President has set his goals for the next year and they were sent to each of us. The objectives that I saw pertaining to the Council Presidents were to help grow the membership by 12,000 members, increase the advertising at the council level, do CSOP presentations and look to see if there are partnering opportunities in each community, e.g. the International Propeller Club of the United States. And don't forget, if you can, join the President's Club to help support the Navy League. I jotted down the next national meetings and they are: 2010 - 17-24 October, Jacksonville 2011 - 24-30 October, Chattanooga 2012 - 17-26 June, Honolulu 2013 - 16-23 June - Long Beach 2014 - 15-24 June - San Diego In 2012 we go back to having the National Convention and Annual Meeting in June. |
